We visited The Cheques for a birthday meal, and I have to say, we won’t be returning. There were ten of us, and most of us ordered the roast. We waited a long time for our meals, and when they finally arrived, everything was cold. One person ordered the beer-battered fish and chips, and that was cold too. A great menu, service and a great traditional pub run, as a traditional pub should be. no arty eat here only great filling plates of food.

Have visited this pub restaurant many times over the years. Must have sat at most of the tables. Great food, good variety of choices on the menu. Fancy enough flourishes from the chef without the silliness of some pubs. Attentive service. Reasonably priced. Great choice for a birthday celebration with friends or family. Came here on recommendation and I after say the food and service was excellent , the veg was cooked to perfection and the girl who served us was really friendly, the Chequer’s has a lovely homely feel in a quaint location, highly recommend
Went tonight for partners birthday meal,table of 6. Food and service was brilliant. Generous portions. Great value for money. I had the scallops for starters,followed by steak and kidney pie. Unlike orher establishment's tender steak and plenty of kidney (not mushrooms) and chips. Will definately be going again. Absolute gem
