In recent visits to a charming countryside restaurant, experiences varied greatly, reflecting both the potential and shortcomings of the venue. While some enjoyed delightful afternoon teas with attentive service and fresh offerings, others encountered disappointing food quality, slow service, and a lack of congratulations for special occasions. Complaints about cold beverages and missing menu items were notable, along with concerns over the ambiance due to staff shortages. Despite its picturesque setting and recent renovations, guests expressed frustration over inconsistencies and the threat of future development overshadowing the hotel’s cherished grounds. Overall, the restaurant has room for improvement to meet expectations.

We had a lovely and tranquil afternoon tea there, completely alone in the restaurant area. The recent renovations and decor are excellent and inviting. The service was very good, and the tea met our expectations—ample, fresh, and a great value compared to other places. We would have appreciated a selection of Darjeeling tea, but unfortunately, they didn't offer that. The scones were delightful. It’s quite disappointing that the hotel and its grounds are being sacrificed to greed for new apartments in just a year or two.

The atmosphere is lacking, with a bland decor and wooden floors that absorb all sound. The staff seemed perfectly ordinary, but I don't know what tea they served me; it had an unusual taste that I couldn't drink. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

We ordered two coffees but received one stone-cold cup and a tea instead. When a waitress finally came back, we reiterated our order for two coffees, but she apologized, explaining that she was the only staff member available and was also handling a wedding party. When the food arrived, the sandwiches were overly salty and dry. Throughout our visit, no one checked on us to see if we were satisfied, and we did not receive the champagne that was supposed to be included with our booking. When we mentioned that it was our special day as we had recently married at Hadlow, no one offered congratulations. When it came time to pay, we had to wait for assistance at the reception. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I can understand why this establishment may struggle to retain customers.

We had a very enjoyable and peaceful tea there (only people in the restaurant area). The new refurb and decor are excellent and restrained. The service was very good and the tea was as expected; plenty of it, fresh and good value compared to other venues. We would have liked a choice of Darjeeling tea but they didn't have it. The scones were lovely. Such an incredible shame the hotel and grounds have been offered up to the gods of greed and money for new housing in a year or two.

There is no ambiance, bland decor wooden floor absorbs no noise. I detest being referred to as GUYS which was apparently normal. I don’t know what tea was given but it had a strange taste and I couldn’t drink it. Unfortunately a very disappointing event.
