I visited this restaurant with my daughter years ago, just in search of vacation photos. I was reminded to check out this place again. At first glance, it seemed unassuming, but the young and welcoming staff made the experience fantastic. They were helpful, friendly, and made us feel welcome. If the restaurant is still half as good as it was back then, they definitely deserve my praise. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Y Pantri:
Nothing wrong with this for an egg on toast or a quick cuppa, but not a place for an eating-out experience. The pastries and cakes are of the commercial bakery type, not home made. View all feedback.
I am not allowed home unless I take my mother some Welsh cakes from this bakery. Also the Bara Brith is lovely. They hav a litle cafe here as well serving light lunches. I have never tires this but looking at what was going to...the tables I will rectify this at my next visit.
This bakery/café is a good find; off the main square and out of sight of a lot of people I suspect but its worth the effort to find. There are several tables at the back past the counter. A good selection of homemade cakes and...the sandwiches/meals are made/cooked to order, so there is a small delay once ordered. Food is of a good quality and certainly fresh. We had the Welsh tea – a slice of Bara Brith, cakes and a pot of tea each. The staff are very pleasant but will probably greet you in Welsh as around of the population in Caernarfon speak Welsh as a first language.

After visiting Caernarfon Castle, we discovered Y Pantri on Palace Street. Located on a side street, this cafe is a hidden gem that is worth finding. The inviting window display caught our eye, and we decided to have lunch there. What intrigued us even more was hearing the customers and staff conversing in Welsh, adding to the authentic experience. The menu offered a variety of meat salads and beautifully crafted dishes, with regular customers patiently waiting to be served. After ordering our lunch, we were impressed by the generous portion size and delicious flavors. Despite our best efforts, we struggled to finish everything. We also enjoyed a hot cup of Welsh tea to accompany our meal. The excellent customer service and high-quality food made our experience memorable, and we would highly recommend this cafe to other travelers.
