Ploughman's lunch is excellent. Good fun staff, small inside but overall an excellent place for food
Two ladies working there looked miserable and it felt like it was a real effort for them to serve us. Not a smile or friendly chatter. Very unwelcoming. The food was okay, nothing special, baguettes with microwaved bacon! cash only. They said they couldn’t get wifi, however we got signals on our devices. Whilst there, a couple arrived and parked in the space to the side of Pebbles, not a public highway as one of the ladies said to the couple who arrived there and told them to move it. It wasn’t in anyone’s way. Fine you would think, however the lady obviously had cancer and was struggling to walk. She made them move it. Such a shame as it is a lovely cottage and the outdoor area is also very nice. Toilet was clean….
Pebbles Ice Cream Parlour A bit of a wait because they were so busy but well worth it. We had sandwiches and jacket potatoes, both with coronation chicken filling. Both gorgeous.
We enjoyed our visit to this restaurant, but found the small-sized gluten-free sandwiches to be slightly overpriced. We also ordered a pot of tea for two for £18, which was satisfactory. However, when I requested a pot of water to top up our tea and a little extra milk, I was informed that I could only have one small milk jug of hot water or pay for another pot of tea. Despite pointing out that it is customary to provide additional hot water with tea, especially considering the high markup on tea, the staff insisted it was a cafe rule. This left us feeling disappointed, as we have been loyal customers for 20 years. Additionally, we were given biscuits instead of gluten-free options with our tea, which we had to return. Overall, we were left feeling dissatisfied over a simple request for hot water and milk.
While on vacation, I believe that breakfast should be whatever you desire. For me, that meant indulging in a large, warm, and light scone topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream. I had been wanting to visit Pebbles every time I come to Tywyn, and I am happy that I finally did on this trip. The owner, who I assume was the lady I had a great conversation with, made the experience even more enjoyable. It was the perfect pit stop for my friend and I as we had already walked 16,650 steps that day.
