With Supermarket bread identified as ultra processed foods, having Model Bakery is a real blessing. Bought a couple of specialty loaves and was tempted by the lightly spiced vegan pastie for lunch today (I’m not even a veggie , blown away by the value (big! and exceptional taste. Early in the week is best for selection, great product, nice chap. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Kurdish Pasty

I got the cheese, potato and onion pasty which was amazing! The Jamaican vegetable pasty was even better, very flavourful and the pastry was very flakey. The brownie and gingerbread was scrummy! Amazing service, very friendly and the price is extremely affordable, 10/10! Amazing experience, great bloke working behind the counter who loves what he does and some amazing baked goods. I had the Spicy Kurdish Pasty and it was excellent a massive, hearty, warm and filling pasty with wonderful flavour. I also grabbed a Meat Potato pasty for the road as well as a Sausage Roll, both of which were equally as good and filled to the brim with meat. My partner had grabbed a couple sweet treats from the window, a gingerbread man and a chocolate brownie, in addition to a couple of the vegetarian baked goods, a Cheese Onion Pasty and a Jamaican Vegetable Pasty, all of which were highly rated and also scored an easy 10/10 across the board. Cash only but outstandingly cheap for the food you get, £20 in total for the two of us who ordered an abundance of food. Highly recommend it to those in the area or just passing through. Blaenau is rightly renowned for its walking, zip wire, caverns and heritage railway but right up there with those attractions is Mr Rashid's Kurdish bakery. Bread you'll be hard pushed to find on many British High Streets.Note: A take-out bakery not cafe.

We intended visiting and started by chatting with the owner in the doorway taking in the sunshine. Proceeding inside we got a description of his bread. Ate a good lunch on a bench almost opposite the rail station. Good fun and quality products found here.
