The view from this Cafe is gorgeous and the food served was scrumptious. The flavors of a typical Kumaoni food spread was thoroughly enjoyed. The service was great and it was a fabulous experience overall. Do remember to make a booking before you go as it could be a little tricky reaching here on your own. View all feedback.
This Cafe is located in Mehragaon. About 6 km/15 minutes of drive from the Bhimtal Lake. To reach there you need to reach a checkpoint with car(you can call them for directions, my suggestion is better do! and after a point you 'll have to walk about 15 minutes uphill trek. It 's not a difficult trek, but conscious of age, be sure you tell all people going with you to wear something that allows you to walk uphill comfortably, preferably full length bottoms and shoes! After reaching there, we met the most friendly and courteous staff! A beautiful greeting and then we entered the cafe, attaching pictures below for references. The cafe has been strategically well placed for astounding views from all directions added some pictures of different views too. The food structure is a buffet, it 's a per person priced plate place. We went in July, 2021, vary of covid there were slots to pre book for 2 hours and then go, so my recommendation is definitely to confirm on reservation(Pre/Post Coivd ! (Or, you don 't want to go far and trek uphill to be said 'we are booked ' errr. The thali had many regional seasonal delicacies to indulge in! They serve Non Veg too, however, we were majority Vegetarians, so we didn 't get a chance to try it. Being authentic to Kumaon cuisine and very off beat for someone new to the place and food type. Overall, it 's a definite go if you are in that area. To add on, the cafe is pet friendly.
A wonderful place serving kumaoni local food. You need to book an appointment to dine-in. The polite host, Ms Aruna will let you know if the desired dates are comfortable with the plan of the day. The best i know is that they host minimum 6 and maximum 12 guests a day. The road to the cafe is not great. Learning drivers may park their cars near the main road or a little ahead towards the cafe. But refrain from taking it up till the last possible because of the sharp turns and steep roads. After the last point of possible parking, there is a trek of about 500 metres to reach the cafe which is open from three sides and is built in a traditional design and layout. There are no glass or wooden windows but the place is left open. The breeze through those three sides and delicious food make the trek worthwhile.

This is the best thing to have happened in my stay in Bhimtal. It is located at a moderately small difficult trek up the hill with scenic views. The views food will be all worth the climb. Everything was just the best ever you’d have had. Ragi roti, amchur sabzi, kaddu, raita, kheer everything was near perfect. It’s also a pet friendly place.
This is authentic food location. Food is delicious and authentic way of cooking makes it different from other hotel. The road runs just beside the Mahajan Cottage near Mehera gaon, Bhimtal. Two family can be accomodated at a time. People are good and humble. while serving they mention speciality of food. People sit over there can feel the serene hills. Worth going having authentic food.
