The Food and service is always supurb. I have two complaints 1 Iasled to be seated in the main Dinning area, instead they seated my wife and myself in the bar area in a both. That in itself was not to bad but the disturbing factor was the back ground music level if I was at a dance bar it would have been fine but we were there to have dinner and the music should have been at a low back ground level not at dance floor... What DavidR doesn't like about Cooper’s Hawk Winery Gurnee:
The noise level in the restaurant is unacceptably loud, making it nearly impossible to hold a conversation. We waited nearly 30 minutes for our wine to arrive, and then another 35 minutes for our food. By the time we received our meals, we had already been there for over an hour. I had to politely ask several times to have them lower the volume which the bar manager finally did. The remainder of the evening was just fine
Food was good but that's about it. We had a reservation and noted that it was for our anniversary. Since it was a special dinner for us I would have preferred better seating in a booth than a table in the middle of everything. Shortly after we were seated a table of 6 with 2 adults and 4 boys was sat next to us. I don't see the point in listing on the reservation that this is for a special occasion if that is not mentioned or taken into consideration when seating guests. Service was also very slow as our server was handling the table of six as well as another larger party. We received our appetizer maybe 30 minutes in and food 30 minutes after that. We did not receive new drinks until we were half through eating the entrée; which means during a period of over an hour we only had 1 drink. I expect the server to check on us shortly after the food is served but it seemed she disappeared for long stretches or was too busy the other two tables. This was not the romantic dining experience we expected for our anniversary. I expect much better service for the price we paid. It was our first time here and we were also not offered a sample of wine, which the hostess said we would get.
Great food and wine! The service is also outstanding!
