After false reports in the press about Wetherspoons not appreciating their staff I was a little hesitant when I entered the Rodboro in Guildford. We were greeted by Katie who promptly took our order and clarified it before ringing up. She even kindly pointed out...the local vernacular for Orange Juice as I was ordering fresh orange (me being Northern We had a little laugh about it and I sat down to await my food. By the time my son returned with our drinks(unlimited refills btw) the breakfast was on the table . Everything perfectly cooked. We went for our complementary drinks and were given fresh cups. The Wetherspoons pubs are always beautifully decorated with heritage features. Rodboro was no exception and I determined to look up its history later. Toilets spotless, staff all had time for a chat, a joke or a smile despite them being busy with the ‘hung over’ student set just arriving for brunch. If the staff are under appreciated they did not show it . I cannot praise them highly enough for looking after us during our visit. Calculating a tip I left at the bar as I left, which shows what great value Wetherspoons is. What a fabulous team of young people. Their manager must be bursting with pride. Keep up this excellent work . I usually have to go abroad for this kind of service, food and value.
Our first pub stop on our recent visit to Guildford and it turned out to be an excellent place to start. Just a short hop from the train station, it is a massive pub in a great location. My wife and I found it to...be really clean with excellent staff, The usual cheap prices were a bonus in a town where drinks were generally pricey. We came back the next day for breakfast, and this again was excellent value. The food was tasty, warm and cheap, three out of three ain't bad!! I am sure we will be visiting Guildford again soon, and I am equally sure we will be popping in here again for a pint and a cheap bit to eat
