Was kentboyGuildford at Vale Cafe a mag?
I have had multiple outstanding meals at this restaurant lately. The food is consistently excellent, the service is fast, and they serve great coffee. The restaurant is also impeccably clean. View all feedback.

What grzzly39 dislikes about Vale Cafe:
My partner and I visited the cafe because we were craving some classic comfort food. The food was okay, not amazing but it did the trick. However, the service was lacking in friendliness. A simple smile or greeting goes a long way in any establishment, but unfortunately, the Vale Cafe was missing those basic pleasantries. On the plus side, the cafe is located next to the Basingstoke Canal, which is great for a leisur... View all feedback.

So always served quickly and food is good however prices have gone up a bit and they only take cash??!!! Is always busy at the weekends but they are closing all of august WHAT ??? It’s the only place to grab a descent bite to eat in the daytime around here. Improvements would be better quality of red and brown sauce they do use the cheaper versions which in my opinion ruins the breakfast.

Visited Vale Cafe as a group of seven guys meeting for breakfast. Arrived at 8:30am to find the place busier than I had expected. General impressions: This is a cafe, not a high class restaurant. Having said that, it’s very clean (no ‘sticky table’ syndrome as with many other places) and bright. It’s not too squashed in, you have room to move. The only negative observation is that the lack of soft furnishings makes noise more noticeable, but that wasn’t a major issue. Very warm welcome the proprietor moved tables so we could all sit together. Vale Cafe operates a counter service system, as with most cafes, and service was good no problem there. I think the stand out point was the quality of the food. The food was traditional fried breakfast stuff, but it was really nicely cooked and presented. More than one member of the group commented on the absence of grease that usually accompanies fry ups, and everyone enjoyed their meal. We agreed that we’d be happy to meet here again. How many stars would I give Vale Cafe? Environment: clean and bright, toilet clean and well supplied, so a star for that Service/People: Warm welcome, good service, so a star for that Food quality: Well excellent, and the tea and coffee was good too, so another star Value: At between £6.70 and £7.20 for a full breakfast with a round of toast, not the cheapest but certainly not the dearest, and it was nice food everyone was happy with what they paid, so star for that too Would I go there again? Well, everyone in the group said they’d be happy to return, so I guess I will! Another star Would I recommend? Yes, comfortably. So a fifth star.

Never had a bad meal or drink here. The breakfast choice is extensive and second to none. Staff are always polite and service is good.
