I used to work at a nearby nusring home and often came here after work when I needed cheering up for a coffee and a gluten free cake something that Squires seem to be very good at. Last time I came here was a... View all feedback.

As a regular visitor to Squires, weekly, often two or three times a week, I’m saddened by what seems to be a lack of consistent friendly service, the staff that wait on the customers have a friendly approach and do their very best, however a very hostile attitude towards them which is very noticeable to us as customers, from the newly appointed manager seems to be causing a decline in positive service and the kitchen is regularly unable to offer full service. The change in regular long term staff is incredibly noticeable and the general feeling is not so welcome anymore.
It is not the best.Counter service only and very slow. Limited choice and all round very bland. All round extremely disappointing We both again
Arrived at 10:30am for a Brunch with friends, we were informed that there would be a 30minute wait for food. We had ordered drinks by 10:30 and breakfasts by 10:50 the drinks took over 20 mins to arrive. People around us, and arrived after us were receiving drinks and food. We waited for just over an hour, at 12:10pm we left without having food. The staff there were apologetic, gracious and understanding, they were severely understaffed on a Father’s Day Sunday and there was NO manager. I have been here many times but this was the worst, there aren’t enough staff to do Table service and waiting times are unreasonable. One of my friends had to leave on the train with No food. This is absolutely not ok for a local Garden Centre Cafe. I am incredibly disappointed and angry.
Very disappointing visit. Arrived at 10.30 am, Orded brekfast/brunch at 11am by 12.10 no food. We had been warned there was a wait. But when other (people who came after us) food arrived. After over an hour we left with no food. Waitresses very nice and polite but had been put in a horrible situation. There was not enough staff for a busy fathers day. The manger was not in that day.
We were a table of 3 people, and each of us ordered a “4 item” brunch. Each item order arrived on an individual side plates which not only looked very sad, it also then requiring our own assembly to build a breakfast! e.g I ordered a Sausage, Poached egg, Mushrooms, Toast, I had 4 separate plates for each item. The presentation was very very sad and unappetising! Add to this, the plates were not warm and the food was not hot. We ordered a further pot of tea, and when delivered we were not relieved of the piles of plates (despite me offering the dirties! It was ignored) so we were pushed for room on the table. The waiting staff were very friendly but the food and efficiency let them down. The garden centre looks very nice on entry it is a main chain and so they follow the same presentation of all the stores, However.. the customer toilets are shocking and really let the store down! Very small, dirty, and in need of serious maintenance Word to the manage, putting several reed diffusers in a cubicle does not distract you from the shabby, broken, dirty facilities! I will be trying Dobbies down the road for my next visit.
