Contribute FeedbackBrittens presents a mixed dining experience that resonates with both nostalgia and disappointment. Many patrons recall delightful meals in the past but express concern over a recent decline in service and food quality. While the atmosphere remains inviting and staff are friendly, recent visits have been plagued by long waits and uncommunicated menu changes, leaving diners frustrated. Some highlight enjoyable dishes like the Gravadlax and chocolate brownie, indicating potential in the kitchen. However, consistency appears lacking, with complaints about tasteless risotto and small portions. Overall, Brittens shows promise but requires significant improvements to regain its former glory.
I went to Brittens for a birthday party, as I had been to the restaurant before and was excited to return. However, this time the experience did not live up to my previous visit. The staff was friendly and the young employees were helpful, but they failed to inform us of menu changes until we were ready to order, which was disappointing. We had selected some interesting dishes only to be told they were no longer available. Despite the good food, the evening was marred by poor organization. Overall, it was a pleasant evening tainted by this issue.
We were kindly greeted by the staff and the 4 of us ordered our appetizers and main course. After waiting for the staff for exactly one hour, waiting was not acceptable. The answer was that Mr. Britten was no longer connected to the restaurant and that there was a new cook, and the restaurant would run through a rebranding. We were in this phase offered a bottle of wine as a token gesture because of the delay, but we preferred to have delivered the meal than to drink more alcohol. 15 minutes later, the starter arrived and when we were asked if anything else could be brought, my guest struck a magnifying glass to see the tiny part of goat cheese and beet root. All four of us chose the Risotto that had agreed to us all was tasteless. No offer of discount etc. was made when the bill was presented, and we paid more than embarrassing the guests. This is not a rant from the blue as we have fed in Britten's since his opening and had some wonderful evenings. However, this experience was a disaster and not recommended for others, unless there is a complete change
The service was excellent and friendly. The menu was interesting without being over the top. The restaurant was quite busy on a Saturday evening. I would definitely go back again.
Visited Britten's restaurant on Saturday night and was very disappointed to say the least. I felt really hurried as my table was booked for 7.15 and we were at 8.30 after 3 courses. The food was average and too many flavors on a plate, trying too hard. Will not visit soon.
I brought my husband and son to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a wonderful evening and will definitely return for future special occasions.
