A lovely interior and great beer list and typical dishes. It might be useful to sort out where the noisy drinkers are and eat in a different area. Not cheap but grub is oak. View all feedback.
I have visited this restaurant twice. The first time was with my boyfriend to try some English food, and the second time was to watch a Raptors game.
I went to this restaurant for dinner and had a beer. The beer selection was not extensive, but it was decent. However, the food was fantastic. I ordered the deluxe veggie burger and sweet potato fries, both of which were delicious. Overall, the food was great!
The live music on a Saturday afternoon was a nice touch! However, the interior could benefit from an update, as it feels very dark with worn-out furniture and flooring.
We were here a couple of weeks ago. There were three of us on our way back from Elora. We have been to the Pub a couple of times over the years. My husband and I ordered the wings and they were great. Our friend ordered fish and chips. The chips were black when the order was delivered to our table. When we asked to have the chips replaced the waitress took them away only to return with more chips that were still very dark and not at all tasty. We did comment on this to the waitress but no effort was made to do anything about the issue. I would have expected that the fish and chips would have been taken off of the bill given that we had issues with both the first and second orders. Not so. The bigger concern that I had with this pub is for anyone with mobility issues which is the case with our friend who has to use a walker. There is no entry ramp into the restaurant so she had to make her way up five or six steps. At the end of the meal we learned that the washroom is in the basement - down 18 very steep steps. We paid our bill and had to stop at a Tim's so that our friend could use the washroom! Surely a handicapped washroom could be accommodated on the main floor level!
Shakes has fairly average food and décor/culture. You can count on getting consistently decent food. No concerns about eating here. Decent bar selection.
