this is one of my favorite restaurants and today my first time was there, as I found out I had a celiac. I had the building of their own pasta and all that gluten-free was clearly marked. I had gf pene with rose sauce and spicy, along with a Ceasar salad with of course no croutons. it was delicious and not sick at all! I will be back in any case! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about East Side Marios:
I told the waiter, I got zöliakie and asked him if they had a protocol to cross-contamination. he said yes, we are very careful. I ordered the strawberry squad and thought it was one of the lower risk options. when I got the salate, it had 4 pieces of bread on it. I asked another waiter by when it was gf brot and he said no. I thought he was joking, but he said "no normal broth." he said he'd bring a new salate. I'm... View all feedback.
This was my first time dining out after being diagnosed with gluten intolerance, and I was pleased by the understanding and accommodating staff. The cauliflower pizza crust was particularly delicious.
I told the waiter I have celiac and asked him if they had a protocol for cross-contamination. He said yes, we are very careful. I ordered the strawberry spinach salad thinking it was one of the lower risk choices. When I received the salad it had 4 pieces of bread on it. I asked another waiter passing by if it was GF bread and he said no. I thought he was joking, but he said "no it's normal bread". He said he would bring a new salad. I made sure he understood he can't just take the bread off and he promised he would get a new one. I got the salad 2 minutes after... I trusted him and ate it and..... I was very sick the next day. If you have celiac, DON'T GO! They don't take this seriously AT ALL.
I don't know what it is but whenever I go to Eastside Mario's I always have tummy troubles even though it says gluten free
This is one of my favorite restaurants and today was my first visit there since discovering I have celiac disease. I ordered the build your own pasta and was pleased to see that everything that was gluten-free was clearly labeled. I had gluten-free penne with rose sauce and spicy sausage, accompanied by a Caesar salad without croutons. The meal was delicious and I did not experience any negative effects. I will definitely be returning!
My second visit was slightly better. The gluten-free menu provided to me was different, offering salad, salmon, or steak instead of pasta. After asking, I received the correct gluten-free menu with pasta options. I chose the spicy red sauce this time, which was much better. The food tasted good, but I was still concerned about the server's knowledge of gluten in general, although she was better than some.
