I like the idea of Cantina La Mexico, but i made a reservation for about 10 friends, and when we got there... they had decided to close since they werent getting a lot of traffic IN SPITE of my reseravations ! You cant just open a bar, and close whenever you feel like it ! The concept may be good, but their service sucked and they are obviously unreliable ! View all feedback.

In tradition back in the 30's and when I was young here in Guadalajara there was a tradition of the local cantina. These cantinas where the MEN hung out talk, play dominoes cards etc to pass the time away. To keep the customer in the owners competed by providing snacks to the patrons. They varied anything from "Pico de Gallo" to tacos and small "Tortas." The food was for free but you were encourage to keep on drinking. Today there are only a few of these still operating in the old fashion tradition. Mexico City has the most of this type of Cantina.Today the "Cantina La Mexico" it is not a traditional Cantina. It is a restaurant that provides top quality tasting mexican food. I went to Catina La Mexico twice during the past three weeks and I trully enjoyed the dining experience. On both occasions we tried different types of dishes and they were all good, the only thing we did not try was Dessert. We were really well satisfied by that time. On both occasions the service was top quality and the manager kept going to each table to make they were taken care off. If you are visiting Guadalajara and want to eat Good Gourmet Mexican food you have to try Cantina La Mexico.
