Place is dark and noisy. Ribeye was nicely done but wouldn't spend $110 on it again. Oysters are very small so a dozen per person is a minimum. Solid draft beer selection but Juniper Bar (located in Hotel Vermont) has much better one, at least this time around. Overall, a good experience View all feedback.
What Anna Dosch doesn't like about Hen Of The Wood Burlington In Burl:
Hen of the Woods is a good restaurant. The small menu is executed well. The real flaw is their lack of non-alcoholic beverages. In a time when NA cocktail options are the norm it is inhospitable and disheartening to have the only options be store bought canned beverages. For that reason I was disappointed to have chosen this for our celebration. View all feedback.
Hard to say enough good things. The food is fantastic. Seafood platter thing of beauty. Fried green tomatoes excellent. Cannot leave without sampling the remarkable cheeses. Service perfect in execution and unobtrusiveness. Try the Gruener.
Hen of the Wood is one of my favorite restaurants downtown! Such a good vibe, professional staff food!
This place is fabulous. We sat at the bar. The bartender was great and was very informative about the dining AND drink options.
Amazing restaurant. We loved everything we has there. The oysters at oyster hour were fantastic. And Preston gave excellent service. You gotta come here if you're visiting.
I 'm a huge fan of Hen of the Wood here in Waterbury, and was pleasantly surprised to see that they used the same floor plan. But you don 't care about that, do you? Hen NEVER lets you down. We were celebrating a couple of friends I haven 't seen in a decade. My friends will try anything once, and it was fun ordering food we either had never seen. If the rabbit liver or foie gras, get it! Or a whole rabbit. I could go on and on about them. It is, however pretty expensive: our meal with three hungry guys cost $400 or so. Worth every penny. You can definitely cut that bill in half $200 or so will fill your belly with fantastic food. Go, you 'll love it. Tell 'em you decided to go because of this post! Maybe I 'll get a discount? Ha! Eat up!
