We used this restaurant while we were visiting Washington DC and were staying in a hotel without a vehicle. The hotel had a list of restaurants and this was on it. We went online and looked at their menu which was easy to navigate, with prices listed. We didn't order online, but called the order in. What Hana M doesn't like about Magic Wok:
ordered 3 meals, orange chicken very dry meat, maybe warmed up from previous days, there was barely any sauce on the chicken. Chicken had a lot of fat.Shrimp and rice like 6 small shrimps with not any taste, tons of some cabbage which had also no taste, with some kind of slimy sauce. Decently priced and tasty. I would definitely eat here again.
Prices are decent, but that’s where the “magic” ends. Kung Pao chicken was rather bland, was comprised of all dark meat with a strange texture, and was lacking any discernible heat despite being listed as a spicy dish on the menu. Dumplings were thick and chewy in a strange way. As far as atmosphere and service there was a TV showing Fox News the entire time, and our server could not stop staring at the TV even when we got up to leave. Tacky at best, bordering on rude. With so many other places to eat in Alexandria it would be hard to justify another visit to this restaurant.
Best kept secret cheap food. They have not increased their price. Food is good propotion for lunch special. I guess the Vietnamese bought from previous owners.
Food is DELICIOUS. Great service and decently priced with great portions.
The young boy at the cash register needs some customer service training. When he gave me my food he didn't even offer me a bag and it was pouring down raining. Who does that? I actually remembered why I didn't want to come back to this place because the last time I was here they were not so hospitable.
