Tropical - GROTTAMMARE

Went on my own midweek for lunch. Had spaghetti with clams, then fish plus house wine for €15. Food was good quality. Option of sitting inside or out depending on the temperature.

I have been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times over the last 15 years and it is always a really good experience. This time there were 8 of us on a sunny Saturday morning in Apriland they had set up a large table overlooking the beach for us. My Italian is not very good and they don't speak very much English but the owner and the head waiter remember me and we always get by. I let them do their thing and they keep bringing dishes and more bottles of white wine and after 7 courses and as many bottles we all protest we are full and then they bring a trio of deserts for each person and coffees. The bill was 55 euros per head which I think is very good value. I see that this restaurant is quite low down on the Trip Advisor charts with several complaints but I've alway enjoyed great food and service and so have all the friends I've taken there. I know there are higher rated restaurants nearby but I'm going back to Tropical next time and will always recommend it.

My friends and I had dinner at this restaurant in July 2015. I was very upset by the arrogant owner of this restaurant. We were not very hungry, just wanted to enjoy the lovely evening by the seaside. We ordered a half-dozen of oysters each and a plate of fish crudo plus a bottle of wine. But the owner brought us 3 plates of crudo (instead of 1 that we ordered) that was overprized and very small portion. So he cheated us making the bill really expensive. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as our evening was spoiled.

This reastaurant is close to the Adriatic.Sitting outside. Very good fresh fish dishes, excellent wines. We have been here twice because of the good food atmosphere and friendly staff.
