Yes, you have to ski over there. A vegetarian restaurant hidden in the mountain. Research says 2600 meters above. I happened to stop by twice and enjoyed the simple food. The view is stunning and the owner of the mountain is forever there. View all feedback.

You can reach Orestes Hutte off piste from the Punta Indren lift, or you can walk or skin there uphill from Gabiet, or downhill from Punta Salati on ski mountineering tracks . Either way, I recommend a visit! It's in a stunning remote location and the food is healthy and hearty. For a real treat, why not stay overnight and enjoy sunset or sunrise before skiing out straight from your door?
The best food we’ve had on our trip in Italy. The food was fantastic, a must try if you go skiing in the area. Very speciel place you can reach only by being a very good skiier, but well worth the effort.
The hut is off the normal ski runs, at an altitude of about 2600 meters, and is a perfect stop for alpine skiers either skinning up or on their way down the Indren Glacier. Unfortunately it is not geared towards welcoming alpine skyrunners, skiers, or any other type of hiker. When we stopped after a long morning skinning up from the Gabiet and lined up for quite a while to be served, we were rudely told that there was no more food as the kitchen was closed , this at 2.30!!! I tried to see if we could get a sandwich, or some cheese, but no way, and rude! I have spent many holidays in the Monterosa ski area, and have done a lot of mountaineering, and I feel very strongly that to be so snobbish and rude when running a mountain hut goes against all basic mountain hospitality. This is definitely a snobbish, luxury wannabe in the mountains, so if you are looking for a more welcoming restaurant, hut or hotel this is not the place you want to stop at. Great pity as the location is breathtaking, with a beautiful terrace facing the Gabiet, with the Colle della Salsa off to the right, and the Refugio Mantova behind. Disappointing!
Best place in Monterosa. Great place to stay over night or just for lunch. The sauna is absolutely fabulous. The staff is very kind and accommodating
