What a cool place! Don't expect anything fancy just a nice little hole in the wall with an outside second story balcony/deck partially covered Very friendly and accommodating wait staff Great chips and salsa, mahi tacos, shrimp tacos, and fabulous margaritas! They also have live music! Nothing presumptuous more of a college style drinking and eating spot! View all feedback.
What Scotty C doesn't like about Sip Tasting Room And Rooftop Lounge:
Fun themed atmosphere in here. I've never had the food but I've stopped in for drinks a couple times. There always seems to be something going on here even when Greenville downtown is a ghost town on certain nights. Last time we pounded down some margaritas and the bartender was happy to make my house marg with agave and lime instead of sour mix. They also had some crazy giant flavored margaritas that looked good, bu... View all feedback.
Gringo's is really stepping it up! Dinner here Friday night was nice. Sometimes it takes a while to get a server but they are taking great strides in service quality which has been rough the last few visits. Our guy was so friendly and helpful getting our order and answering our questions while refilling water and the free delicious chips and salsa. I ordered the Baja fish taco $4 which was amazing! Crispy battered white fish on a flour tortilla topped with a creamy sauce and pickled red onion! Every bite was flavorful and so well crafted. Still the same day of the dead beautiful art and lanterns in the downstairs potion and dive bar atmosphere upstairs and on the patio. I love the fire pit. Gotta try your hand at the ring swing game!
Love their trivia nights! Tuesday is regular trivia and Thursday is music trivia. Their happy hour goes from 4-7pm and they do cheap margaritas including $12 pitchers. Quality of those pitchers though is dependent on if they feel generous with the tequila that day. We've had pitchers before where I'm like...dang this sour mix is good I guess. Same goes with some of their cocktails. The Moscow mule sadly didn't come in a copper mug and was super diluted. You can never go wrong with beer though and that's also in their happy hour deals. Taco Tuesdays are fantastic! Their tacos are so damn good. My fave is the shrimp and grits with their delicious jalapeño cheddar grits; I get this every time without fail. New favorite now is the flat iron BBQ. Oh my gosh that tender pulled pork plus fried onions is freaking amazing! Their enchiladas are also pretty awesome especially with the butternut squash.
Real simple it probably would have been a one if not for the happy hour price on a pitcher of margarita $12 and we poured 5 good glassfuls out of the pitcher) and the fun time we had playing Trivia. Food negative. Tacos were bland, not hot temperature hot), and it took forever to get. The cheese dip got cold while we waited on a chip refill and it took 20mins to get it reheated. And they ran out of chips BEFORE 7:30pm. A cantina ran out of chips....wow! The bathrooms were well it's a cantina. They were what you are envisioning right now. Service slooooooow. They must have been short staffed or something. Enjoyed the Trivia. Will probably return to play Trivia and have margaritas. But will plan to eat somewhere else before arrival.
The fried avocado taco was amazing! Very good Mahi Mahi tacos as well. The chips salsas were very good. My hubby enjoyed his beef bowl as well. Pina Colada cake was a delicious choice for dessert. The sweet tea was perfect. Server was attentive and very friendly.
Gringos's has a really great atmosphere! I'm so happy to have stumbled upon it and extremely glad I went in. The walls are hand painted and they have many hand painted chandeliers. It is really colorful and is a really fun little cantina. Gringo's has two bars, one upstairs one down and a few different options for seating areas. As the weather has always been nice when I've gone I opt for the roof/outdoor area. If it is nippy out, they have a fire pit they lit. The rooftop is a really fun little area with games such as big jenga and some rope and hook game. The menu is simple enough, many different types of tacos all well priced. I am pretty plain when it comes to tacos so opted for the OG seared shrimp. I do wish I was brave enough to try like the buffalo chicken. I've tried a few drinks and all were tasty! One thing I love about Gringo's is that the owner is really hands on! We saw him bringing food to a table and engaged in pretty good conversation with him before finding out it was his place. All the staff is super friendly, the food is yum the decor/vibe is perfect. (Tuesday's are Trivia taco Tuesday night Wednesday's are karaoke night!
