First time dining here. We were pleasantly surprised at the overall experience. We split one of the bigger combos, seeing it was so large. Also ordered a side salad. The service was excellent. The young waitress didn't know a ton about the different combo options but was very friendly and helpful. The dinning room was quiet and suitable for a very nice evening relaxing while you dine. That's a plus after a busy week.... View all feedback.
What Haylie Haley doesn't like about Acropolis Restaurant And Oasis Bar:
My wife I ordered the gyro platter to share. The lamb lettuce portions were plentiful tasty. However, the fries were lacking, only providing a very small portion. We asked for more fries one extra piece of pita bread. We were charged $5.75 for the side of fries $2.75 for the extra small piece of pita bread so basically, charged an amount enough to purchase an entire gyro fries at any other typical Greek restaurant. I visited a restaurant in town for dinner and was promptly seated upon my arrival. After a quick chat with the server, I decided on the Athenian Combination Platter, which featured sautéed chicken and beef over hummus, accompanied by a Greek salad and pita bread. The Greek salad was a standout for me! I'm typically not a fan of mixed greens, but the delicious dressing and generous amount of feta cheese made me thoroughly enjoy it. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the beef was wonderfully seasoned. I polished off every piece of protein and nearly half of the hummus. The pita, however, was just average, which was a bit disappointing compared to the rest of the meal. It might have been better if I had ordered an additional salad and more pita to balance things out. To finish off my meal, I tried the Greek fingers, and they were just as good as the server had promised. I'm not sure what they are called elsewhere, but they were similar to baklava, yet much tastier. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area, and I will definitely keep it in mind for future visits, despite the myriad of options nearby.
To start, the house salad on the menu didn’t specify what dressing it came with. While most house salads generally come with a standard dressing, my nearly 80-year-old grandfather always asks for his preferred dressing. Unfortunately, he forgot to mention it when ordering. When he realized it, he tried to ask the server about it when she returned to our table, but she seemed to ignore him and walk away without engaging. From the very beginning, she was unfriendly. I ordered the authentic Greek salad and requested extra feta cheese. She told me it already came with feta, but that's not what I asked—I simply wanted extra. It seems there's a charge for that. Having worked as a host, server, and cook in fast-paced restaurants for years, I know how these things should be handled, but this server lacked the essential skills of good service. Additionally, when I asked if I could add turkey to my Greek salad, she suggested that I order the house salad instead, which is completely different. I declined and reiterated my request for turkey, to which she said it was fine. My dad also asked for a side of feta for his salad, and she insisted the salad already included feta. He clarified that he wanted an extra side, and she said she'd take care of that. A few minutes later, she returned to inform me that the cook said they couldn't put turkey on my salad. I found that odd but didn’t respond. Once the food was served, both the Greek salads were missing olives, and neither had the extra feta my father requested. The salads also ended up being quite dry, with minimal dressing, mostly stuck to the blocks of feta at the bottom. The pita bread served with the salad was hard as a rock. My grandfather’s salad was slathered in house dressing, but my grandma mentioned he wanted Thousand Island dressing. The waitress claimed he hadn't specified that, to which my grandmother replied that she hadn’t asked. The server eventually returned with a single side of Thousand Island dressing, implying it was all she could do, since she didn’t take the time to clarify the initial order. We typically never send food back or seek to get meals comped; we've always been understanding. I acknowledge that a house salad usually comes with its dressing, but at the very least, this should be indicated on the menu. As a server myself, I always check with customers about their dressing preferences, regardless of what’s standard. My grandfather, a nearly 80-year-old Vietnam veteran, found it difficult to eat his salad without his preferred dressing. It was disappointing. We never demanded our meals be comped, but the manager scolded us, saying we should know what dressing accompanies the salad next time. Overall, the servers and management were rude, the service was terrible, and the food was subpar. This place has really gone downhill. While I recognize it's a family-run establishment, that doesn't excuse the lack of customer service. My salad, which should have included olives, was served without them. The experience was incredibly frustrating. If I could give negative stars, I would.
The food, service, and atmosphere are outstanding! We started with an appetizer, followed by two main dishes packed with vegetables, cheese, sauces, meat, fries, and bread—delicious and hearty! We were so satisfied that we could have taken some home, but we couldn't resist trying the baklava, and we were definitely not disappointed! We will be back!
Excellent food, great service and enchanting decor; this is a must to visit! I had the souvlaki and on another visit the chicken parm. Both delicious! Treat yourself to some Ouzo while you're in.
My husband and I came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. We were seated quickly. We got the Greek appetizer, Combination platter, and Gyro platter. Everything we ate was delicious! All of the meat was incredibly tender and well seasoned. We will definitely be back!
