Both previous reviews are true... Butter chicken is good, and the beef madras is nice but salty as hell. Maybe they're not selling enough drinks and are trying to pump sales up. Not as good as other Shamianas but still better than most other joints. Seating is way too close together here and the bumpy elbow factor is high. Would revisit, but stick to butter chicken. But the line is long so Albanyites must love their... View all feedback.
What Joshy P doesn't like about Shamiana:
Wow. It seemed like they poured an entire bowl of sugar when cooking their butter chicken. They should rename it to Sugar chicken. I actually couldnt bring myself to finish the meal... Never returning to this place again. McDonalds is a better choice. View all feedback.
Work lunch, ordered one of everything two butter chicken cos my staff requested... Total of ten combos with rice nann... Manager gave us two extra nanns cos I bought so much, nice touch!
No exemption not accommodating for a child. I asked for a small gravy and naan instead of the regular gravy and rice for $11 and I was told that you don't see McDonalds doing half and half specials like that and i can buy gravy on its own for $11 if I don't want rice. Why would I pay $11 for just gravy no meat even. I said at least McDonalds has better specials. Thanks for your lack of hospitality and being so difficult.
I ordered butter chicken combo includes rice, drink, butter chicken curry and naan totally $16. Very disappointed with the quality of the products especially Naan, very dry and rubbery, the edge of the naan even hard to chew. Not coming back and not recommended.
Each Curry is high in red color and no taste at all. rice and naans are not fresh. even kept open... for hygiene they should be kept in some hot boxes. specially bad experience with vegetarian curries.
The food is good enough. It is consistent, filling and gives fair portions. No complaints there at all. Where they have a problem is that I haven't had such consistently bad or rude service anywhere else in the mall. There is a man who is there all the time. An Indian guy with a mustache. He is the worst customer facing person I've encountered in New Zealand. Consistently rude. Doesn't acknowledge questions. Just absolutely unfit for any sort of customer service role. The guy just has no desire to be there and makes it clear that by buying food there you are inconveniencing him. If I see him there I don't go there. Period. The food isn't worth dealing with the attitude this guys has.
