Lunch at this place today. Very good mixed kebabs (chicken, minced lamb and lamb cubes) with an enormous serve of bread and accompanied by yoghurt and chilli. Well worth trying if you like Afghan food.
We came here on a Saturday night, and even though there were several customers, they were able to fit us in. Overall, our experience was okay but nothing that would make me go back. THE GOOD - the food was very good. - The bakery looked like it had some nice food- the bread was nice- the place did look fairly busy, which I guess is a good sign.THE BAD - the service was TERRIBLE. We were ignored as we walked in and had to ring the bell to get served. - the staff were not very friendly and seemed annoyed when we asked for something- plates were practically thrown on the table as they were served. I'm sure they didn't mean it like that, but the staff looked so unhappy that it wasn't welcoming at all- the banquet meals need a minimum of four people, unlike other Afghan restaurants - they forgot our bread - we asked for water, they forgot so we had to get it ourselves.
So reading the other reviews, I agree, service is not fabulous (you have to get up and get your own drinks) and the toilet is disgusting (I did get locked in there too, so watch out for that) but! Food was delicious!! We have been here a few times, admittedly not for a couple of years, but had a hankering for some Afghan tonight. I think it may have changed owners somewhere is the last 2 years (yes it's been that long since we have been here) Restaurant has had a few cosmetic changes, it's still run down, dirty and not very nice inside, but put that aside. We have the mixed Kebob (lamb and chicken) an eggplant dish and a chicken dish (so sorry cannot think of the correct names for these!) and a garlic naan. Food was delicious, portions were a good size and it was reasonably priced.
First visit was a horrible experience thought i would give it another try before i give it a review second visit was nothing better. Slow service horrible customer service, rude staff food tasted old and had an offensive order overall a very bad dining experience .

The menu at this restaurant offers some fantastic, authentic Afghan dishes that were well-prepared and delicious. The service was quick and efficient.
I loved the food at this restaurant. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was my first time trying Afghan cuisine and I was not disappointed. We ordered the Afghan Special Set Menu for 4 people and also added a special dish of Afghan rice with lamb shank. There were 5 of us and the portions were generous, we even had leftovers to take home. The atmosphere was perfect for a cozy and enjoyable meal.
The kebabs on skewers at this restaurant are delicious. Even though I wasn't very hungry at the time, I still tried a taste and it was really good. I would definitely recommend trying both the lamb and chicken kebabs.
Came here this time for the restaurant...coz someone recommended it... ordered a few lamb dishes and they were all good ! compared to other afghan restaurants in the area...they give 8 kebab sticks instead of 4....so they're generous on quantity... will be coming back again
We had a lovely experience. The staff was courteous and efficient. The food arrived promptly and the servings were generous. All the food was very fresh and tasty, we loved the bread and found the meat was so well cooked it slid easily off the bone. Having never experienced Afghan cuisine before I now would not hesitate to recommend to friends. The dining room was comfortable and decorated with an exotic flair and we really felt like we had been transported to a different culture. A really fun lunch for our group. Thank you Afghan Masala!
