What OllyLowestoft doesn't like about Toby Carvery Captain Manby:
We had a much better experience this time compared to our last visit in June. This time, we had just come from the hospital for a minor surgery and wanted to stay close by in case we needed to go back quickly. View all feedback.

Thank you.
Really tasty, friendly warm welcome, an organized well-guided team, the carvery had a really good selection of foods that all looked fresh and appetizing
As regular customers of this restaurant, we typically have a good experience. However, our visit on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 was disappointing. Despite making a reservation for 6pm, we had to wait to be seated, which wasn't a major issue. Once seated, we ordered our drinks and joined the queue, only to find that it moved extremely slowly. It took 45 minutes to finally be served, with only one carver on duty who was clearly overwhelmed. There was no one managing the queue, so we were left waiting without any guidance. When we finally returned to our table, we found out that they had run out of Turkey and had to wait for the sole server to bring another. This resulted in my partner being halfway through their meal by the time I returned. Overall, it was not a good experience and we were very disappointed with the lack of service.
Visited New Years Day in the evening as was staying in the hotel next door, and what an awful standard of carvery was served for £14.99, the carvery deck was a mess, Turkey had dried up, Beef exactly the same, Lamb was just a bone and the Pork was just the end! How can you justify charging such high prices when there is obviously an issue, you have signs all over saying be nice to the staff as their new, but the basics can’t even be met on the deck! The carver was a lovely chatty guy who couldn’t apologies enough, and blamed it on lack of staff! After talking to the waiter, who also agreed it was embarrassing, I paid and left whilst the “Manager” was stood at the end of the bar talking where she would of been better looking at the standards, her pubs serving! The staff were all lovely, and by far not their fault, it comes from the top and she’s obviously not bothered so the standard I witnessed is what I’m guessing is the “Norm” Was going in for breakfast, but couldn’t bring myself to go through it again I get it’s busy, but if your going to offer such poor quality food and standards, employ more staff to sort it!
Only one member of staff sorting food Very little food on display to pick from and what was there was cold or dried out. The worst Toby I have ever been to. Was thinking of lunch there on New Year’s Day but forget it no way. I told the person in charge but she didn’t give a toss. Never again. Avoid at all cost
