We stopped by today for a coffee and a snack while taking a walk on the beach. The café was quite busy, but we were able to find a seat outside with our little dog. They provided a water bowl for him, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed inside the café. There is a unisex restroom available for customers inside. We ordered a coffee, a scone, and a bottle of sparkling water, which came to just un... View all feedback.
What Abbie T doesn't like about Jay Jays At The Beach Cafe:
I stopped by this place just after noon yesterday for a coffee, and it was quite a disappointment. It seemed like the staff had been forced to work a 17-hour shift on a holiday weekend; the atmosphere was terrible! There were no smiles or friendliness, just a sea of unhappy faces. As we were getting ready to leave, the chef decided to walk around the café and lean on the counter with the other employees, just staring... View all feedback.
Stopped for coffee and cake, I had a mocha which was lovely and my husband had a black coffee and almond slice both were excellent. Nicely situated right on the beach front with inside and outside seating. Staff were friendly.
Welsh Rarebit and Ham, egg and chips were very good but it's a shame when you eat outside it has to be from a cardboard box. The cakes all look scrumptious but some we have tried were a bit dry or a little old. The Carrot cake, however was really good.
Wonderful little coffee shop/restaurant. The coffee is really good. They allow dogs in, while being served and then welcome at the seating area outside. My two dogs love the fact they sell dog sausage Opens very early and all year around
Such a lovely find and I wouldn't worry about recent reviews! Food lovely, presented on plates if you're sat inside! Lol! Huge selection of cakes and tray bakes and the coffee was fab! Just what was needed after a blustery autumnal stroll along the beach! X
One of the key aspects of a dog-friendly café is how the staff interacts with the dogs and what amenities they offer for them. Here, you can order a dog sausage for your furry friend, already sliced up to save you the hassle of chopping while you eat. They also provide a water bowl outside, which is crucial in the heat of July. Although there was an option for takeaway, ordering takes place inside, and the staff were very understanding of my dog’s excitement to see what was happening around him. The only downside to Jay Jay's is the pricing; for example, a prawn Marie Rose sandwich costs £8.50. However, since Jay Jay's has moved away from the typical seaside fare of battered fish and chips—which you can find plenty of at the northern end of Gorleston beach—it's clear that it's not aimed at those looking for a budget-friendly meal. Instead, it offers a unique dining experience with a fantastic view.
