Food was great. We thought it was the typical quality of Chinese owned restaurant but the quality of the sushi is good. Had the oxtail fried rice, not much beef/oxtail and they were in shreds and bits. Very stingy with the meat. Kamachi was good. Agedashi tofu was not that great, the battery is thick, fried batter and a little stale. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
I've been coming here for 5 years and made it a point to support it all throughout the pandemic. Their service was lacking but the sushi was fresh and of good quality. I enjoyed having the Shoshaku set and brought many people here each time. I couldn't visit for a few months and when I went today, it was horrible. The fish was watery; or dry and tasteless. The rolls were stale and old. It was obvious the sushi chef has changed. The price is too high for bad sushi. I'm so sad to have lost my go to place for good sushi. Shoshaku, please bring back the quality.
The fish are extremely fresh, and the pairing of rice and fish is very well-balanced. Especially the rice, which is soft yet chewy. We ordered a set, which had a wide variety of fish, with different types well-matched, satisfying the tastes of most people. The price is still quite reasonable. In the Great Neck area, this is truly a hidden gem of a restaurant. Service: Dine in
