I had a great stay at the Ben Mhor, for a long weekend. It's very reasonably priced for the area, and that's reflected in the basic nature of the rooms, but it is clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, and they made our stay a very pleasant and enjoyable one. Food in the hotel was surprisingly cheap and very decent, breakfast was great. What Karen Haskell doesn't like about Ben Mhor Book Direct For Best Rates:
Just stayed here in late June. I would give this place another star if there was air conditioning. With the mixed up weather, the heat was unbearable. It was 90 degrees in our room. Window wouldn't open more than 4 . See through curtains, which don't work because it stays light out late and sun up early. The mattress was really terrible. They updated the bathroom, which was nice. The pub was ok. The menu was plentifu... View all feedback.

The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, and they made our stay a very pleasant and enjoyable one. Food in the hotel was surprisingly cheap and very decent, breakfast was great. The bar is cozy and very reasonably priced, with a good selection of single malts as well as the usual draft offerings. The hotel is in the heart of town, within easy walking distance of several restaurants and shops.
This place wins a few points for its location near the center of town which makes many pubs and restaurants accessible by foot. But man buyer beware here you will get a deal for staying here but you get what you pay for, the beds are super worn out and the rooms are quite dingy our garbage hadn't even been emptied out from the last guest. The staff just seem to get annoyed when you have even the slightest question. Overall I would not recommend this place unless you need a cheap overnight stay.

Stayed at the Craiglynne 2 nights with bus tour. The first night found the included dinner unpalatable. Tried Ben Mhor (10 minute walk) next night. 5pm found it largely empty service promp and staff pleasant. Had steak and ale chicken and mushroom pies, fries, salad and peas. Pies were overdone, but all was satisfying. Sounds like rooms in both places should be willfully avoided.
Honestly one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. The beds felt like they would collapse at any minute especially the third bed on wheels. The room was uncontrollably hot even though it was April. The bathroom just reeked from the drains. Wasn’t super clean. Floor in the bathroom was very uneven as the linoleum wasn’t glued properly. Wouldn’t do again.
