Osaka Sushi - Grand Sudbury

I have been trying to get my husband to try sushi for years, then my sister got us to go to Osaka Sushi he pouted, yet came along ... and loved it ... he said it was up there with the best meals he has ever had

A change from previous owners does indeed find a cleaner restaurant. Staff are polite, service via tablet is quick and food is on par with what one would expect from a cafeteria style restaurant. The dinning area lacks atmosphere and feels to open and offers not much in the way of secluded dinning. Although it has received a coat of paint, I did expect more changes after being closed for about a month. The Country music playing as we dined was a bit off and didn't, in my opinion, really fit the ambiance when eating Sushi. Guess I expected more from experienced owners. It seemed off that the menu would publicize their other business ventures by naming Sushi dishes after them, but, whatever marketing works right? The new technology of ordering from a tablet is interesting, however, not enough of an enticement to bring me back time and time again. Overall, a 3 star rating based on cleanliness and staff, and this establishment would not be my first choice for Sushi in Sudbury. Unfortunately this spot would not qualify for a recommendation to any of my friends.

Heard it was under new management. Thought I would give another go. Had another HORRIBLE experience. Almost left without paying AGAIN. New owner seems nice, but obviously doesn't know how to manage a restaurant. Wait staff were utterly incompetent and our main waitress utterly ignored us, and was rude and full of attitude from the moment we sat down, to the moment we left, WHEN she actually served us. EVERY food order from the kitchen was messed up, overcooked, bland and almost inedible, WHEN it actually arrived...because we had to reorder 4 times just to get our FIRST order from the kitchen. Only sushi was of acceptable quality. Even after paging the waitress she STILL ignored us for 10 mins. Would not refill drinks. Also ALL (over 10) of the staff was noticeably of a certain middle-eastern minority and spoke in foreign language in front of us (in angry tones). Was so beyond rude and unprofessional. Price was SO expensive as well for utter trash quality food. AVOID!

Had the cheese wontons and gross that’s all we tasted was very old oil sushi was not good al all my daughter could have done a better job had shrimp sushi 4pcs and way too much rice there is supposed to be a small amount of rice the amount that looks like a thumb but they had the amount of a boiled egg also out of all the staff 5 I had seen only one Japanese person working here she was doin the sushi and the rest are of new Canadian origin maybe stick to buying gas stations just because u hire a Asian person and you can deep fry stuff and throw some jullian carrots don’t mean u can buy a sushi restaurant and expect to have a success sort last time I will be heading there again gone way down hill !!!

Had a wonderful experience here. Wonderful staff Excellent friendly service. The sushi was fresh and fabulous. The tempura veggies and shrimps large and plentiful. If it were not so far from Toronto it would be my favourite sushi place.
