The Søvengård - Grand Rapods

Waited an hour for an overcooked, overpriced, cold, and bland duck breast dish. At least they had salt available. Sovengard doesn't seem to be anything special, I don't understand the hype. Staff was super nice, though unprepared. Drinks and NA options were great. The space is trendy but haphazard, I was surprised to see knockoff lighting being used.

The idea of hyper local focused food with ever-changing fresh ingredients really drew us in! The wide-ranging drink menu was a selling point in itself with really unique and fun cocktails. The food was amazing and the service was very friendly. You could really see the depth and time spent on each individual dish. Our only complaint was we had gotten the farmers cheese for the table based of a picture/review from a few days prior. unfortunately, it was served with three single chips, three tiny pieces of bread and three pickle slices. That being said we were left with more than a half of cup of cheese and nothing else left on the plate. Fortunately, we had also ordered the smashed potatoes so we were able to use up the rest of the cheese with our potatoes. If you look at it from the perspective of attempting to not over serve in efforts to reduce waste then it is understandable. However, with a soft opening and in comparison to portion sizes seen days prior we assumed it’s just them attempting to find the right balance! We cannot wait to go back again.

Looks like they are still figuring things out. Visited last night and it was a tough experience. Not enough water glasses at the table for 30 minutes, the drinks took 50 minutes to come out. The dishes we ordered were brought out entirely randomly. No silverware for the table. Had to go up and get our own. I would give it another try, hoping they can work this stuff out. But even the basics when it comes to a dining experience was severely lacking from a service perspective.

Had an amazing experience with my wife. Fantastic food, amazing service from the staff and a really fresh interior made it easily one of our top picks for GR!
