Mudpenny - Grand Rapods

MudPenney is one of those places that consistently delivers with their main thing. In other words, I’ve had espressos, cortados, lattes, and pour overs, and they do a great job time and again with their coffee. The only time I remember not being thrilled was with a specialty drink that had really intense flavoring; some of those can be pretty sweet. But sometimes that’s what you’re going for I suppose! Their food is also quite good. Can feel on the pricier side sometimes. Their space is really attractive, and their staff has been consistently friendly. If you’re going in just for a quick coffee, they have area inside the front entrance that is small but never too busy, as their main draw is the larger cafe side where you can order food for breakfast and lunch and is a great place to meet up with others.

It’s a great small place and the food is DELICIOUS love it ?

I recently visited Mudpenny on Cesar Chavez and was disappointed with my experience. I ordered biscuits and gravy, which cost $19, but the portion was very small for the price. While the presentation was nice, it didn’t make up for the lack of value. The service was also very slow, even though there was only one other table in the restaurant when I arrived—just 30 minutes after they opened. Given the slow service and the underwhelming portion size, I expected much more for the price. Unfortunately, I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

In 2020 we’d order takeout here every weekend and it was so good. The pancakes and OG breakfast sandwich were to die for. After experiencing a handful of brunches with raw pancakes and menu changes, we’ve since started going elsewhere.

Food was great, but service was slow although there was one other table. Gorgeous place!
