Shang Hai Ichiban - Grand Rapids

The guys at my office are always talking about this place. I swear, one of them orders the Hot and Sour soup like 4 times a week. Maybe I should have ordered that instead of the Orange Chicken. Was really disappointed. Each piece of chicken was the size of a small chicken breast. Way too big. I had to cut each piece up in to several smaller pieces in order to eat it. Also, there was so much sauce and so many tiny pieces of orange peel that I had to scrape it off each piece before taking a bite. Also ordered Crab Rangoon and they were way overfilled. Each bite felt like eating a big spoonfull of cream cheese. I ended up taking most of it out from the rangoon and they tasted much better that way. I wouldn't be against trying this restaurant again but definitely won't be ordering the same again.

Woof. I am writing my review as I am finishing my meal , so the full shock of how in impressive this experience was still hasn 't fully sunken in. Sushi not fresh. My room temperature rolls were kind of awful. The crab is imitation, my salmon was more grey than pink, and the avocado was beyond ripe. All the rolls were finished with a heavy sprinkle of sesame seeds, why? I had the luxury of eating my sush at the bar, while the host and all the bored servers talked about their cell phone service, chicken nuggets, and other customers behind the partition literally 4 feet away from me. I would have fared better by getting a roll from the grocery store, and paid half as much. Work on this my friends. revise there is a fireplace in the women 's. It 's fancy.

I don't normally review a place that I only got take out in, because part of my review grade includes service and atmosphere. However this place was enough for me to need to review it. I ordered Crab Rangoons and General Tso Chicken. I can say this about both of them, they tasted odd in different ways. The Rangoons tasted like rangoons just with a weird taste. The General Tso did not taste like any General Tso I've had before. It was not good at all. Plus the chicken quantity was lacking. Overall a 2 star review. The only thing saving it from 1 star is benefit of the doubt since I didn't eat there. Would I order from there again? Never!

While my family has always stopped in for the Hibachi experience, last night we picked up a huge take out order for a large birthday party. We gave them about 4 hours notice when we ordered and when we stopped in to pick it up, they loaded it on a cart and walked it out to our car for us. They took the time to go over everything to make sure they didn't forget anything. They explained what dishes needed to be stirred up before serving as well as what every sauce was. They put labels on everything for us which made it easy to share. The only complaint is that I'm not a huge fan of their sweet and sour sauce because it's very thick. Overall, this place didn't disappoint and never will. Friendly staff and quality food.

This place was amazing! The customer service was beyond anything I have ever experienced. They really know how to take care of their customers. The food was really good. This was the first time that we both finished all our food. We just couldn't stop eating, it was that good. I will definitely come back and eat here again the next time I am in town.
