Description

Fish Lads has become a mixed bag for customers, with some praising the fresh seafood and flavorful dishes like their standout fish and chips and crab Benedict. However, service issues plague the establishment, as many report long wait times and inattentive staff. While some enjoy a pleasant dining experience with knowledgeable staff and quality meals, others leave disappointed due to poor service and concerns about food freshness. In summary, Fish Lads offers excellent seafood but struggles with customer service consistency, making it a place of both admiration and frustration.

I visited Fish Lads after discovering that Whole Foods had run out of Branzino, and I was pleased to find it available there. Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. I stood at the counter for several minutes before a staff member finally emerged from the back. Instead of helping me, he began chatting with a coworker while I continued to wait. When he noticed another customer, he went over to assist them, prompting me to interject with, "Excuse me, sir, I've been waiting here." He then came to assist me, but his attitude was cold and indifferent. Given the high prices they charge for seafood, I expected a much more courteous level of service. To make matters worse, he didn’t even wish me a good day. Overall, it felt like a poorly run business.

I'm sorry to say that I have to give this restaurant a poor rating. If I could assign negative stars, I would. First and foremost, the service at the counter is very disappointing—it's so lackluster that even a college mascot would have a hard time getting attention. Additionally, the seafood here is far from fresh or high quality. The smell from the products is unbearable, the selection rarely changes, and the prices seem to have an outrageous markup of around 300% for the quality offered. I strongly recommend staying away from this place. It's not worth it.

My friend and I had lunch here for the first time, and we thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips. It was a wonderful experience, largely thanks to our server, Liam.

The food tasted okay, but I believe I got food poisoning after eating at Fish Lads. That night I was stuck in bed and spent the entire next day either in bed or in the bathroom. It was terrible, and I usually never have stomach problems. I ordered the grilled fish, but they didn’t have the bacon hash side, even though it was still listed on the board. They didn’t offer any alternative or discount either. The service was really poor, with a very rude woman working there. I will definitely not be returning.

The fish quality was excellent. Although we had to wait several minutes before someone took our order even though it wasn’t very busy, everything else was perfect.
