I had dinner here while I was in the area, and I thought the food was great. They served everything quickly, and the portions didn’t skimp at all. I got a Maxwell Street Polish sausage and a Chicago dog, and both were packed with toppings and flavor. The waitress was friendly and took care to make sure we had a good experience. It’s nice to know there’s a place serving these Chicago staples in the GR area. View all feedback.
What steven carroll doesn't like about Chicago Beef Joint:
What terrible food. It's not Chicago beef, they used food service roast beef like Arby's does. They messed up both of our orders, so my sandwich was dry, the other ones had no relish and had sweet peppers on the sandwich, not to mention the cold and lumpy cheese. It's a shame that they don't bother actually cooking and serving beef. Nice staff though.Reached out to the email they gave me in their response and no resp... View all feedback.

Bummed but this spot is pretty mediocre. Bread was a touch past it’s prime.. and a nice Italian beef needs proper bread.. I got a beef my favorite way with extra hot peppers, wet, not dipped and it was beyond soggy. The bottom of my roll had dissolved. I might expect this if I got it dipped, and that’s fine. Dipped should be really wet and maybe soggy. But I didn’t. I think this was partially because the bread was a touch stale. The ratio of beef to bread was WAY off. If you’re getting a beef you want a heap of sliced beef. IMO It should be slightly uncomfortable to eat. This one was 80% bread 20% beef. Really poor proportions. It was really an Italian Bread with a side of some beef. Beef tasted like prepackaged mail order beef kit and the gravy was the same, which isn’t the end of the world but I’d expect more from a place with Beef in its name. One step below Arby’s… and Arby’s doesn’t sell Italian beefs. Also they were out of fries… Service was great though, and restaurant looks like it could be really nice. But I’ve literally had better beefs at O’Hare airport.
That's right, five stars.. First off, free convenient parking; and they have live music (with a patio). Second, the building has been completed remodeled (very clean, and nice). Third, the food is what they are trying to achieve (no, I have not been to these iconic places in Chicago; but how many places in Grand Rapids can you get copycat Chicago food). Lastly, the service was outstanding; better than I have had in a least a year. I will be going back, and I will be bringing others with me...Kid-friendliness: They are kid-friendly..
Came on a NFL Sunday, the atmosphere was amazing with watching the games and lively but not too loud. The food was amazing, classics but done to perfection. But the thing that did it for me was the service. Everyone was super nice, very attentive and welcoming, engaging and interactive, and had great conversations with us. This will be my new go to spot! If you are looking for a weekend spot, watching games or takeout I highly recommend!
Great Food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere. Chicago Beef Joint is up and coming and I can't wait to visit again. All of the staff incredibly nice and the vibes in the restaurant are great and the patio is amazing especially with live music at night! You can tell that everyone enjoys working there and care about their guests.
