Cafe Rio Mexican Grill - Grand Junction

Went on a weeknight after dinner rush. The restaurant was not even half full. Counting the person in front of us, there were three of us in line waiting for service. The service line took our order, then proceeded to make it so unnecessarily fast, as if it was lunch or dinner rush. Stuff was flying everywhere, like a tornado through a trailer park. The service area was a mess. There were toppings, sauces, and cheese everywhere, and that's before they started making our meals. At the register, the girl poked her finger in our meal to determine what type of protein was used for pricing. Usually, I have to pay extra for that kind of service (lol). As I said, the restaurant was less than half full, and all the empty ones were dirty. I'll go back, as I do enjoy their food, but hopefully, I will have a better experience on the next visit.

I live in a neighboring town, so when I come to GJ once a week I like to treat myself. I love how in just a few weekly visits, the staff recognizes me and even remembers my favorite order! They are so friendly and kind!

Really like the pork there with medium sauce. Horchata is good, too. Only gripe is sometimes they rush the food through the conveyor oven so the food isn't as hot as I like.

Fairly busy for a Saturday afternoon. Service was fast and friendly and as usual the barbacoa burrito did not disappoint.
