We weren't locals, so we stumbled upon this restaurant almost by accident. What a discovery! The place was bustling, as it was open all day, but we managed to get a table because of a cancellation. I ordered the fried meat with spuds and Yorkshire pudding, and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, the portions were generous, and the vegetables were perfect for sharing. What User doesn't like about The Castle Tavern:
I'd passed couple of times, noting the historical aspect and finally visited after walking from Portchester. Sadly all tables inside were reserved and though warm out, sitting outside didn't give me much a flavour of the pub (but rather Gosport traffic and unruly patrons). However, the staff I spoke to at bar were friendly and next time in Gosport I hope to return. View all feedback.

Parking is on the street. Went there on a Friday night. All tables were reserved, but we were lucky, and a group did not turn up. Once we ordered the food turned up in good time. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Burger, Hand Carved Ham Egg and Chips
