Spending the day at Lee on Solent as was so sunny and fancied fish and chips sitting on the sea front. Our gluten intolerant daughter said she’d just have a portion of chips as she can’t have the batter. What a surprise to see they had gluten free on the menu, and at virtually the same cost. Very busy evening, no problem always happy to wait but paid more for separate chips, paid for large cod large sausage. Got a regular size cod have been here a number of times before). Today I had fish and chips at this restaurant. The fish was terrible, it was soggy like cardboard. The chips were just okay, but there were lots of small bits. I found the meal to be quite expensive compared to other places. The service was average. Overall, I would rate the food a 1, the service a 3, and the atmosphere a 1. Best ever tasting fish and chips including their battered sausages in the area My husband and I always go to Smarts Fish Bar in Lee in the Solent. Staff always friendly. WELL RECOMMENDED!!.
