What Devon Goyette doesn't like about Island Goods:
Unfortunately, unlike other establishments in Gore Bay (and on all of Manitoulin Island), the staff at this restaurant were quite unfriendly during our visit in mid-May. View all feedback.
We had a great time dining on the patio, enjoying our delicious meal and large dessert spread. The menu offered a variety of options, including daily soup and a selection of sandwiches. They also had a great variety of healthy homemade dishes, as well as local beverages. Kris was very friendly and knowledgeable about the local food scene. We even purchased some vacuum-packed sausages from Burt's Farm to take home and cook later. Make sure to check the seasonal offerings before they change, as autumn/winter specials start in September.
We enjoyed our wraps and enormous dessert bar on the verandah. Several choices including daily soup and variety of sandwiches. Very good choice of healthy house made, and local bottled and canned drinks. Kris is so friendly and knowledgeable about local food - and food in general. We bought some vacuum packed Burt's Farm "Smokies" to take away and cook later.Check for seasonal hours before you go. Fall/winter hours in effect September.
Manitoulin Island has some great little restaurants, and newly opened Island Goods in Gore Bay is one of them! The owner, Kris Leblanc, has become well know on the Island for her vegetarian dishes, soups and sandwiches. She is a strong believer in buying local products and has played a big role in educating others in healthy eating. I have eaten at both her old and new locations and her food is always delicious!
All kinds of delights from frozen yogurt to fresh baked bread and muffins! Friendly service.
