La Bonne Chute Restaurant Bar

Can not completely check how I tried only a court, but it was well presented and the staff was very friendly. may be somewhat overpriced, but not bad overall.

Nice restaurant attentive staff, I ordered the aubergine curry dish food was well prepared and presented.

I was there when the South African team was playing a rugby match against Argentina. The match was shown on a huge screen and the of course the volume was somewhat high. The bar was crowded, but not noisy as one would have expected in these circumstances. The restaurant was quasi empty but as the bar is next to the restaurant we have had to bear the noise. The food was of a good standard. My guests and I chose each a different seafood starter and we all had roasted wild boar for the main meal. Boar and venison are the specialities of the house. Service is fine and staff polite. As I am not a rugby fan, I told the owner that I would have been elsewhere if I knew that rugby was shown on a big screen. As a gesture of goodwill he did not charge any corkage fee.

Unfortunately this restaurant was not very good, which is disappointing after all the lyrical reviews so if I can give the restaurant some tips it would be that they should try to only use fresh products and perhaps have a masterclass in cooking as well as cocktail making. If you want to know what was wrong let me elaborate: We started of with a classic cocktail, the mojito. As an old bartender I know how it should be and unfortunately this was just sugar, rum and small pieces of lime and mint thrown into a glass with some crushed ice. Not even close to how a mojito should be. Then came the starters which were the shrimp in butter sauce with cheese and the merlin carpaccio. The shrimps were okay but the carpaccio was white as was the 'stuff ' that was thrown on top of it which was just as bland as it looked. Up for the main dishes which were the beefstew and the calamari. For the calamari the whole dish was just lukewarm and the sauce tasted mostly of maizena. Also the taste of the calamari itself was gone. As for the stew which was beef and loads of salt the vegetables were obviously straight from the freezer from a bag which you can buy in a supermarket. I do recommend the service however since they were very nice.

Great atmosphere with very welcoming people. Food was 10/10
