Menu
The place from Goleta offers 111 different courses and drinks on the menu at an average price of $11.4.
Cal Taco presents a blend of enjoyable dining experiences, highlighted by its flavorful charbroiled burgers and ample breakfast burritos. However, the use of disposable plates and fluctuating prices, including extra charges for condiments, has raised eyebrows. While the food typically impresses, ranging from juicy burgers to tasty sides, customer service can be inconsistent, affecting the overall vibe. Patrons appreciate the casual atmosphere, making it a suitable spot for various gatherings. Despite minor flaws in service and pricing, Cal Taco remains a beloved local spot known for its hearty meals and friendly staff, making it worth a visit.

Was Paul Johansing at California Taco a mag?
Forget In-n-Out Burger. This place has burgers more fresh and delicious with a far shorter wait time than the big name franchises. Toasted buns make these extra special burgers, exploding with lettuce and onion and available with a selection of cheese (or not). Because they also offer Mexican food, you can opt to get your burger with chips and salsa rather than fries and I strongly encourage this option! Indoor and o... View all feedback.
What JohnPaul McCrary dislikes about California Taco:
Eating at a restaurant should not mean being served on disposable foam plates that can melt from hot food, and using plastic cutlery. It shouldn't be difficult to wash a real plate, fork, and knife. The hashbrowns should be easy to cook, like the crispy hashbrowns you get at McDonald's. View all feedback.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The burgers were excellent. I give it two thumbs up.
I travel frequently throughout California and I must say that the hamburgers at 5:45 are the best in the Central Coast.
This was undoubtedly the most disappointing meal I've ever had. The cheese was served cold, and I suspect that someone tampered with my drink by urinating in it. I do not recommend this place for anyone who is white.
Service is friendly and prompt. Prices are affordable. Choice of Mexican cusine or burgers, both are tasty. Atmosphere is casual.
Last place in town to get an awesome charbroiled burger done the correct way. Try here then the others and you will taste what I am talking about. The only flaws are the prices that have gone through the roof! I left and even saw a one dollar charge for extra Mayo on my burger… say what!!? I think there may have been new ownership recently, the vibe has definitely changed. But nice spot for a first date. Can get a beer and Mexican food or American. Lots of room, salsas, and time to chat. Close to the beach too…make a trip in I know you will enjoy it.
