O Barrigas - Golega

We stumbled into this restaurant when visiting Golegã and were most pleasantly surprised by the great service and the excellent lunch option. The starters that we chose and the grilled fish was delicious and the deserts even better (the poached quince is amazing). Will sure come back when in the region.

Without a doubt one of the finest restaurants in Europe, at weekends and special occasions they have a buffet and unless you book in advance there is no hope of a table, people travel from Lisbon to eat here, so that tells you something.

Roomy and pleasant dining room. Cold buffet with a wide range of dishes. Hot buffet limited to two meat dishes and one of fish. I did not try the main courses and I confined myself to the buffet. The food was generically well cooked, but not exceptional. The desserts were too ordinary. excellent wine list. The staff were friendly and efficient. I find the price too high for the quality of the food.
