I grew up in North Texas eating fried catfish regularly. I’ve had good, great, and pretty terrible catfish over the years and The Fish Place’s catfish ranks right up there with the better ones. Filets are a good size and the portions are generous. The cole slaw is a nice vinegar with white pepper. The fries were crisp and the hush puppies were well seasoned. This is definitely a return trip next time we’re in Red Bay... View all feedback.
The food is consistently good. I have to drive 20 miles, but it is well worth it.
My chicken livers were overdone, and I waited over 45 minutes for my order.
I grew up in North Texas and regularly enjoyed fried catfish. Over the years, I've encountered catfish that was good, great, and even some that were quite disappointing. However, the catfish at The Fish Place definitely ranks among the better ones I've tried. The fillets are a generous size, and the portions are quite ample. The coleslaw has a nice vinegar base with a hint of white pepper, adding a pleasant twist. The fries were crispy, and the hush puppies were seasoned perfectly. I’ll definitely be returning next time we’re in Red Bay for motorhome service. Although it seemed like most of their business was take-out, we opted for an early supper. The dining area has around 15 seats arranged at 4 or 5 tables, creating a cozy atmosphere.
This is undoubtedly the best fish in the area, and perhaps even anywhere. I honestly can't recall having better fish anywhere else. The baked potatoes and hush puppies are consistently excellent too.
The food was fantastic. We ordered the catfish, shrimp, and chicken livers, which were some of the most tender I've ever tasted.
