This restaurant is a hidden secret. For those diners who like to experience different tastes this provides an interesting experience. Modestly furnished and providing warm and friendly service it's a good place for lunch or early dinner. The food is fresh and servings are generous. The flat bread is very unusual but very tasty. This restaurant is amazing! I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious and filling meal I had. They offer a great variety of vegetarian dishes that I can't wait to sample more of!
Great customer service. The lady put more food in our plate than what we ordered. She was very friendly and the food was pretty tasty. Great to have restaurants offering foods from other cultures in the town. Highly recommended
Love this place. Fresh food, full of flavour, nice people. Before you eat they bring out a basin and pour water for you so you can wash your hands. The service is fast and friendly. I had the non spicy mince with injera and a boiled egg the mince is really tasty, full of well developed flavour.Injera is kind of like a savoury pancake or crepe, with a slightly sour taste, kid of like lime juice. If you like COFFEE go here. The coffee is made from fresh green Ethiopian beans, roasted right there in the restaurant. They bring it in a traditional pottery jug and you pour it into little espresso cups. It's strong and rich great for a lunchtime pick me up! The young lady even showed me how they roast the beans in a little pan over a gas cooker (traditionally done on charcoal). If you're lucky (or maybe if you ask) they will heat up some charcoal and throw fragrant resin incense over it to create a beautiful earthy scent so exotic! You can buy both the coffee beans and the incense if you want to take some home.Ethiopian culture is ancient and we're so lucky to have this restaurant here on the Gold Coast. Well worth a visit. I hope this restaurant is well supported so it stays for a long time.
The best African food that I have ever tried!I would recommend any person who is either looking to try out a new type of food, or is accustomed to food from this part of the world to come and try it out.You won't be disappointed.
Why oh why do they not do a tasting plate where you can sample a few of the dishes all at once? This is how the Ethiopian restaurant by my old house did things and it was a big hit! Everyone could share and you could figure out which dishes you did and didn't like from the first visit. If they start doing this I'll return. Until then my dish was okay but too much of the same flavour, I need variety when it comes to Ethiopian food.
