This is a well located Club, almost opposite Australia Fair Shopping Centre on Scarborough St, with the Southport South Tram Stop only 200 metres away. It's a big, rather rowdy space, nothing intimate about the place at all. However it is clean and tidy and seems to be well run.I called in for an early dinner and was surprised by the breadth and value of the menu, with a couple of meals costing as little as $10. I ha... What User doesn't like about RSL Club Southport:
Atmosphere is friendly cheap and easy parking underneath. The slow cooked lambshank was as good as anywhere. The cheaper meals are clean canteen style. Good staff and good tucker with no views in a dated easily accessible location View all feedback.
This restaurant review praises the great club for its friendly atmosphere, delicious meals at affordable prices, and cleanliness. The seating is comfortable and well-spaced, and the background music is at a low enough volume for easy conversation. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and there is easy access for disabled individuals with a ramp from the sidewalk into the club. It is suggested to check for live entertainment before attending.
The restaurant has been renamed SOPO (short for Southport) and is popular among the younger crowd. The staff is friendly, the food is tasty with generous portions, and the prices are reasonable. The bartenders make great cocktails, but they could improve by prioritizing the order in which they serve drinks to avoid keeping other customers waiting. They also have a kids menu and a playroom to keep children entertained.
We had a delightful roast pork lunch on Sunday. Members can enjoy this great deal for just $5 a year. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The band was fantastic, although a bit too loud for some of us older folks. It was also a wonderful opportunity for the local lion dancers to perform.
I order the crumbed barramundi with chips, the barramundi was small and pre cooked, very oily. My husband had a burger, he didnt think it was anything amazing for the 18 dollars they charge.
Went to the Southport RSL to see a show in a Friday night. Staff at reception were friendly and efficient. We went to the bistro for a meal. It was very busy so there was a 30 minute wait for meals fair enough. The bistro area is woefully undersize for a crowded night. It was unnerving having people weaving between diners looking for a spare table and glaring at you in an effort to hurry you along. Finally meals were ready and they were disappointing. The burger was fresh but lacking in taste, and the calamari was like old boots. All this while overhead someone on the mic was yelling out raffle results non stop. It’s quieter eating at Maccas! Upstairs to the showroom which was fine. Only downside was that I’d taken out a club membership at reception, only to be told at the showroom bar that the member’s discount doesn’t apply in there! WT..?? We’ll go to the club to see another show but definitely eat somewhere else first.
