The Village Baker - Glenside

A top of the line bakery in a top of the line shopping mall. Despite this the prices were comparable to outer suburbs bakeries whose offerings were not as good.The desert type slices are around $4 to $5 each. Meat pies were $4 for the standard and up to $5.30 for the fancy with most around $4.60. My chocolate paniere today had a filling of REAL CHOCOLATE! and only my waistline shouting "Stop! You can't do this to me!" prevented me from indulging in a delicious looking bread and butter pudding and a vanilla slice.Now for the main event. I love meat pies. The meatier the better. I have bought meat pies all over Australia and even in Bali,Thailand and Singapore. These are about as good as a meat pie can be. Comparable to the Port Douglas bakery whose meat pies were voted "Best in Australia" about thirty years back.Having said all that and having drooled over today's offerings and past favourites of "Bacon and Cheese" and "Curry" and "Potato", I thought....just for a change...I'll go vegetarian...Gasp...horror..did I really say vegetarian.Yes I did. Today's treat was a large serving of what looked like a big sausage roll but in fact was a "Pumpkin and Chick Pea Roll". It was unexpectedly delicious, savoury and filling. Large pieces of pumpkin and whole chick peas mixed in with a variety of vegetables. Yummy. See for yourself and Give it a go

Best pies in adelaide, lamb shank and pepper steak are hell good. Been a few times now and am yet to be disappointed

This place has a nice selection of homemade pies n cakes It's a must if you pop into burnside I love the pies and cakes n today I was served by a young man ... Awesome service , Awesome smile n to top it off Nice Pie ...

This is a great bakery with so much assortment and selection. A variety not found in most bakeries. We purchased a wide range to take home as we live far away. If you want something different and with quality then this is for you.
