Great new spot! Just stopped in with my kids while Mother's Day shopping. The perogies were delicious (we had the beef and the mushroom). They're topped with a grilled onion and bacon mixture good enough to eat by itself. The fries were some of the best I've had anywhere; maybe top them with onions and bacon too? Definitely stop in next time you're in the area. View all feedback.
What Mark Ballin doesn't like about Jan's Bistro:
Called about three different times, weeks apart from each other, and they never have the food I want in stock, and I ask for multiple things. Learn how to stock your business, gave you three chances and you blew all of them. View all feedback.
I'm not sure how to classify this place; they have burgers, crepes, peri peri chicken, a couple of German dishes, and pierogi, so they're all over the map. This review is of their vegetarian options: other than the dessert crepe, there basically aren't any, unless you have them modify something, which they're willing to do. All the entrees are meat, however they do offer a chicken/feta/spinach crepe which can be ordered without the chicken, and potato/cheese or mushroom pierogi which can be ordered without the bacon bits (they typically come with onions, bacon bits, and sour cream). I'm unaware of anywhere else in Glen Ellyn that does pierogi, so this is welcome. They were out of crepes when I was there, so I got the pierogi. They were plenty generous with the fried onions (not crispy) and they were tasty. The pasta dough was maybe a little chewier than it needed to be, however the fillings were good; the mushroom in particular was very tender. Service was pretty quick, though I was the only person in the restaurant at the time.

Great food and service! Friendly staff. They also cater to American fast food favorites. Best pierogies in town!
This place is my new go to! Would give it 10 stars!!
