I absolutely love the biscuits and gravy here. It's one of the best breakfast options you can find in the area. The Glen Oak Cafe is consistently clean, and the staff is fantastic. View all feedback.
What Joanna Dragowska doesn't like about Glen Oak:
I have to say, the greeting was anything but warm, and the overall atmosphere was not inviting. I accidentally spilled coffee all over my table, and the staff didn’t even seem to notice. The coffee I received was poured from the bottom of the pot twice, and it tasted stale. The Eggs Benedict were overcooked to the point of being like hard-boiled eggs, and the food on the plate didn't look appetizing at all. This was... View all feedback.
$4 upcharge for something that tastes like precooked microwaved bacon. Says everything
Never disappointed when we eat here! I have been hooked on the vegetable skillet with scrambled eggs. AMAZING. I have made four meals out of it!
Just happened to drive by area and find a jewel of a restaurant
This was such a yummy place for breakfast! Right in downtown Glen Ellyn and service was great.
I 've been coming here since it opened... it 's sad as I 've supported local businesses (and perhaps I 've just hit them on a couple of bad days , but service (which is increasingly surly! and food quality have definitely fallen off over the past year. My weekly breakfasts there have become hit or miss more times than not. My last time in was on Martin Luther King Day it wasn 't just that service was very slow (I understand everyone is having difficulty with staffing or that the order was wrong and cold, it was the owner 's rude treatment in front of my 2 year old grandson and he may have just been having a bad day during a busy shift that convinced me that I 'd not be back. If you go there, consider some of the other reviews listed here and expect an experience somewhere between ok and disappointing. If you 're looking for a more consistent breakfast experience, consider Danby Station on Roosevelt Road.
