Been here twice on a Wednesday night for the Cypriot dinner - the octopus is a beautiful dish and the dips, especially the tzatziki, is delicious. While the wine list is short, the quality was good. Service was good so a very pleasant evening. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Mothers Instinct:
This place serves a decent brekky and lunch. Some menu options are way too small for the price but the quality is good. The decor is modern and trendy however, they should have invested a bit more in acoustics. This place gets very noisy even when fairly empty. No efforts were made to create an acoustically appropriate cafe. I visit often as I'm a local but at times, the noise is unbearable. Situated near Elsternwick station, this cafe has a vibrant interior and ample seating. I opted for the hot mama eggs and French mess with a latte. The hot mama eggs were tasty, but the portion size left something to be desired. As a dessert lover, I thoroughly enjoyed the French mess - the blend of croissant, ice cream, berries, and pistachios was a delightful combination. The staff were very welcoming and overall, I think this cafe is definitely worth a trip.
Mothers Instinct is a wonderful cafe located on the corner of Glenhuntly and McCombie St in Elsternwick. The cafe is spacious and filled with natural light, creating a cheerful atmosphere. The open kitchen allows for the cooking smells to waft through the eating area, which only enhances the experience as the food is exceptional. I ordered the poached eggs and smashed avo on gluten-free multi-grain toast, which was delicious and healthy. The eggs were perfectly poached and covered in flavorful seeds. The service was efficient and friendly, with both the food and coffee served promptly. The coffee was excellent, with a nutty, strong, and creamy flavor. The breakfast special, a brioche burger with chive scrambled eggs and house relish, also looked tempting. I will definitely be returning for lunch in the future, as the venue is licensed and the lunch menu appears enticing. Overall, I loved my experience at Mothers Instinct and would rate it 3.9 stars.
However, I found the pasta to be a bit plain and oily. On the positive side, the service was fantastic!
I have been here a couple of times and have always had a decent experience. The coffee is a bit weak for my taste and the food is tasty but nothing to be wowed about. They have an interesting menu, something for everyone. However this place is missing something, not sure what. Mother's is in my neighbourhood and quite aptly positioned. I will be coming here in future for the comfort it provides me.
Really excellent service, all the staff are so polite.<br/ <br/ The food is absolutely delicious. The serving size wasn't massive, but was enough to fill me up.<br/ <br/ Will definitely be back to try some other dishes : <br/ <br/
