Over many years my family, friends and I have been patronising Chun Po, enjoying the superb food and friendly service. Some of our favourite dishes - ones we have ordered again and again over the years and found the quality consistently good, include: Crisp-skinned Chicken, San Choi Bao, Spicy Deep-fried Garfish, Japanese Silken Tofu with Vegetables, Chicken with Fresh Chestnuts in Claypot, Whole Deep-fried Flounder,... What Zakary Christiansen doesn't like about Chun Po:
After waiting an hour for the take away order when told that it would be 20 minutes, and then being told that I was lying, I brought the food home to find a fly in the chicken sweet corn soup and hair in the vegetarian fried rice.I called to inform them of this and again, rather than be sympathetic, they were accusing me that this was not true!Overall, the service was terrible and the food was still in the containers... Chun Po Chinese Restaurant in Malvern offers a Combination Curry Laksa that is perfect for warming up on a cold day in Melbourne. Located conveniently near the train station, they currently have a great deal of $9 for a Laksa and a drink. The dish includes vegetables, tofu puffs, prawns, eggplant, chicken, and two types of noodles, all cooked well. While the broth could have been more flavorful, adding some Sambal helped enhance the taste. Overall, it is a good laksa, though some may find it lacking in curry spices. The lunch deal at Chun Po is a steal, making it a great option for a satisfying meal.
I had a delightful Laksa at this restaurant today. The staff was very attentive and I highly recommend it if you are a fan of Laksa. The Coconut Broth was delicious with a good curry flavor, and the dish included eggplant and king prawns. Worth a visit!
I stopped by for a quick lunch and ordered the soft shell crab laksa. It was served within 2 minutes of ordering! I wished the laksa had more spice or the option to add extra chili.
Best laksa I've ever had! The broth was so strong and flavorful but not too spicy. I seldom finish the laksa soup (because it's greasy and spicy) but this one was too yum to resist. Besides the seafood was quite fresh. I believe they pay attention to the details because even the thickness of Hokkien noodles was just right, not too soggy as some laksa I've tried before. Would definitely go back for another bowl of yummy laksa!
Our new favorite place for dinner. friendly service, clean, yummy, attentive and generous in portion and affordable price, kids friendly . my son loving his fish fillet. place a bit hidden but found by zomato and so lucky we found them. would recommend.
