I wish there was a website where I could leave this comment, but since there isn't, I will use this forum instead. My experience at this restaurant has nothing to do with the garden centre itself, but I dread the thought of having to interact with a certain staff member at the front desk. I have tried to understand what could be causing this person to treat customers with such disdain, but it is difficult when they do not show us the same courtesy in return. Customers should not have to be spoken to in a disrespectful manner. We are paying customers and deserve to be treated with respect as human beings.
I ordered an open sandwich that was supposed to come with cole slaw according to the menu. However, I soon realized that there was no cole slaw on my sandwich. When I asked for it, I was informed that they were out of cole slaw. When it came time to pay the bill, I politely reminded the cashier to not charge me for the missing cole slaw. Her demeanor quickly changed from friendly to hostile at the suggestion. I wasn't as concerned about the cole slaw as I was about the lack of acknowledgment that I should receive a discount for an item that was included in the price but not provided. Despite the cashier's irritated response, she reluctantly deducted 50p from the bill. I thought about mentioning that my sandwich also lacked butter, but decided to leave before causing more tension. It seems like the staff could benefit from some customer service training to improve their interactions with customers.
The food was not good. There was a stock cube that was not even dissolved in the soup. However, they have a beautiful view from the terrace.
Love it here. Clean, fresh and the food is lovely. Had warm fruit scone, jam and cream with tea and a toastie. Just fab! All the food is lovely. Bought my friend a plant on the way out, it's just such a lovely place.
My husband ,my mum and I visited today for lunch. When we arrived we were told to sit and wait until our table was ready and it was slightly abrupt. The same person told us our table was ready and I think previously the abruptness was really just because the restaurant was busy and being businesslike. We had the small fish and chips, bread and a lovely salad and purple coleslaw.Absolutely delicious. We also had coffee and mum had cake and tea. Beautiful view and food and our young waitress was very helpful.Good wholesome homemade food. We had a look at the shop and bought plants in the garden centre.A lovely day out.
