Contribute FeedbackThe restaurant received mixed reviews with some customers expressing disappointment in the quality of food, lack of atmosphere, and mediocre service. However, other diners had a fantastic experience praising the exceptional food, friendly service, and beautiful ambiance. Despite some negative feedback, there were still many positive comments about delicious dishes, attentive staff, and a great overall dining experience. It appears that the restaurant may have inconsistent quality and service, but those who had a positive experience would definitely return.
Good food, quiet area, attentive but not intrusive, staff. We had a lovely evening. Will return.
I had my 90th birthday celebration at this hotel and was very impressed with the food, staff and attention we received. I can certainly recommend it for a special event. I only saw the bedrooms as we live very near the hotel and did not stay overnight but they were very tastefully furnished.
Got married in Carnbooth House Hotel on 28 April 2013 and had a wonderful day. Returned there last night on our 5th Wedding Anniversary for dinner. Food was as good as I remembered as were the staff on duty who were friendly, helpful and provided great service. We have such wonderful memories of our special day which have now been added to with our 5th wedding anniversary meal.
Booked for lunch on Good Friday with my wife. When we arrived there were no cars in the car park which was ominous for a 1 o’clock booking. We were shown to our table but we were the only guests in the restaurant and remained so until we left. My wife ordered Cullen Skink but the smoked haddock appeared to be missing. My Stornaway black pudding with pork belly was served with what looked and tasted like dried up smoked mackerel. I was assured it was pork belly. Don’t know what it was. We both had the cod with thrice cooked chips on a bed of leeks. The leeks were the green part uncooked (steamed perhaps) and tough and the top layer of chips were ok but underneath they were not normal chips but dried up potato wedges. Fortunately the fish was tasty Overall a very poor meal with no atmosphere. No one except our friendly waitress came to apologise. Now we know why the restaurant was empty We won’t be back
My family celebrated my husband's birthday yesterday at the restaurant in Carnbooth. I called at 8.30am to explain that our daughter was a very fussy vegetarian. Jamie passed this on to the chef, whom I wish to stress, was fabulous in arranging a lovely menu especially for Sarah. When we arrived at 7pm for dinner Robert and Jamie warmly welcomed us and seated us at a comfortable table. Music was played at the exact volume in the comfortable, suitably lit restaurant. Jamie was attentive and helpful in discussing our menu, wine order and a mocktail order for our designated driver. we had our order for dinner taken by another very nice young man. Robert, the manger and these two young men ran the restaurant on their own all evening. Not an easy task when several people want a drink or an order at the same time. The food was delicious. High praise to the chef. It was not lost on us that Jamie had taken my call at 8.30am and was still working over 12 hours later, on a very long shift! Not that you would know by his personable, diligent manner. This young man is an absolute credit to this establishment. as is their chef. I do hope the management/owner are aware of this.A hotel is only as good as its staff, after all. Another wonderful experience at the lovely carnbooth.
