I visited this wee pub for the first time yesterday and it’s lovely, with gorgeous Christmas decorations, friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks! It was perfect for a cosy pub evening and I will definitely be going back soon! View all feedback.
What Wallee doesn't like about Cottier's Restaurant:
This restaurant was empty when we arrived at around 7pm and with good reason. It was pretty awful. The service was mediocre, the white wine was warm, and the food was sub-par. They ran out of the food we wanted (pork). The replacement meal we chose was curry and it was served with tortillas (no one wants to eat curry with tortillas). My meal was vegetarian moussaka with poorly cooked eggplant, ok flavour. My small Gr... View all feedback.
Booked a table in the attic for dinner. We were promptly surrounded by half cut punters shouting and swearing who had been diverted up from the bar downstairs. This is unacceptable and disrespectful to customers who have come specially for dinner. It should either be...a restaurant space or a pub, not both. It didn 't get much better... I 'm bring generous to say the servers were poor at their job. The were disinterested to the point of being arrogant. Very much gave the impression of being students who had no interest in doing their job. Put down soup and dessert without noticing we had no spoons!! The table next to us had to repeatedly go to the bar to ask for missing cutlery too. After having to go to the sering station to ask for condiments we were given an empty salt shaker! Food was literally dumped down and slid along the table, canteen style. The mussels starter was the only good part of the meal but spoiled a bit by the fact the clueless servers didn 't bring a dish for used shells, meaning I couldn 't really get into the sauce beneath (leaving aside the fact they didn 't bring a spoon! and there was no hot water brought to clean my fingers. Fish and chips was passable but overpriced at £14. Worth a tenner at best. The 'mountain burger ' was an absolute joke. It looked like a kids meal from Wetherspoons; similar to the picture below by another reviewer. The burger and chips were straight from the frozen catering catalogue. The night was summed up by the horrible sight of the boss publicly dressing down one of the servers in the middle of the restaurant. He was almost face to face with her, puffing his feathers out and finger pointing. At one point a customer who was walking past to the toilet tried to intervene because it was getting so uncomfortable. He was responded to with : it 's OK, I 'm the owner. I don 't care how poorly somebody is at doing their job, nobody has the right to take liberties like that. The irony is that he was obviously pulling her up for something to do with the tables of drinkers as he clearly hadn 't noticed the standard of restaurant food and service. On that note; it 's not a good look for an owner to be boozing in his own establishment and rise to his feet to play the boss card just to look like a big shot.
Ordered a hot chocolate which was awful, when the waitress asked, I answered saying it was dreadful she answered with ohh OK thanks and walked
Are you able to scan a room and not see a customer trying to get your attention? Are you haughty and willing to bang plates down on the table? Are you able to roll your eyes when a customer asks you politely to repeat what...you just said (because it’s loud and you both have masks on)? Well, get a job at Cottiers. I’ve been going to Cottiers for years, as it has a nice room and beer garden, but it amazes me that they take on staff and don’t train them. Recently, on a moderately busy Tuesday night, I was there with my partner and we both ordered fish and chips. They were slapped down in front of us and the staff member strutted off, before I could ask for another drink. I finally got another staff member’s attention and got one. Normally the fish and chips are pretty good but on this occasion they were pallid, not crispy and the batter was too thick. As I was too hungry to send it back, I ate just the fish minus the batter. Nobody asked us how the food was and when the dishes were cleared, nobody asked if everything was OK. The charade of trying to get more drinks and even the bill exhausted us, so we left despite the fact that we were really enjoying the quiz. Staff appeared keen to get home as they came round all the tables and said last orders for coffee was at 8.45. Really?
We held our high time at cottiers and could not have been happier as the day came out. Erin and her team were very professional from the beginning and ensured that all small details were exactly organized as we wanted. the venue itself...stunning and the catering/drinks were all perfect. we are so happy that we chose this as our venue and would recommend to everyone to look for something quite different, grandiose, but intimate in glasgow. thanks to Erin and the Cottiers team:
Good place for casual food and drinks. the menu is somewhat limited, but has different things for a lot of taste. it has a beer garden that is great in summer and they are dog friendly inside and outside. very much. from high times are happy here so that in summer there can be a high-time celebration. they have a quiz on a Tuesday night and the place is filled with it and there are various food and drinks offers during the week. the service is somewhat mixed and they sometimes end up at the bar that tries to be served for eating etc., as the workers do not visit regularly tables. they can eat or just drink at this place inside and outside. there is also a restaurant in the upper floor, but not yet
